Bank branches are vanishing from our county at an alarming rate. How many are left? You’d be shocked. Are we just losing bricks and mortar? Or is there more to this than internet banking?
Let us start with a question. Across the Somerset Council area of Somerset how many bank branches will be left after the 2023 closure programme is implemented? Before you answer that, let’s note that there are 6 High Street bank groups operating in our region (Lloyds, HSBC, Barclays, Nat West, Santander and TSB) and the council area has a population of 560,000.
