Not so local after all
There are campaigns galore to promote buying local. How many time shave we been told to “save the High Street”. During lockdown a frequent refrain in the press was that with so many forced to stay locally, we should all start to buy locally. We have things like “fiver fest” and just recently, on 3 December we had small business Saturday.
These initiatives are especially important in a rural area like Somerset where our economy is dominated by small family businesses. But there are always people willing to exploit those looking to support local business.
When we saw an advert on Facebook offering a local will writing service - addressed to “Langport people”, we were curious. We anted to find out more.
Facebook is largely unregulated and is space which can and is being used to exploit those who in good faith think they are supporting a local business.
