Somerset's weekly hard copy newspapers are vanishing from the shelves. Victims largely of social media growth. Now we ask if the engine that drives social media growth is also running out of fuel?
I've found many Leveller articles to be of interest to me, since you expanded your distribution area.
Holding local councils to account for spending taxpayers money, explaining how the NHS 'consultations' pan out etc is why I always enjoyed reading local.
The national newspapers are all too London-centric so I've lost interest in them.
Other local papers just 'cut and paste' stories from the internet.
I had to chuckle about the micro-targetting on social media.....I invariably press the mute button or make a cuppa, not dissimilar to commercial TV, whenever one comes up.
Great news for you. Now can you cover local issues - such as why petrol/diesel prices in Wells are always so much higher than elsewhere. A trapped consumer base with so many elderly who don’t drive away from the local area.
